Compliment Challenge

Everyone can relate to having a bad day; car problems, getting stuck in traffic, or just running late to an appointment can put a damper on anyone’s morning. Once the ball gets rolling, it can feel like the rest of the day is only going to go downhill. Have you ever had one of those bad days and a friend, co-worker, or colleague gave you a simple compliment and for some reason that small gesture lifted your spirits and your day seemed to get better? That’s because compliments are powerful gestures that will not only change the momentum and outcome of your day, but more importantly, can reinforce positivity in your life. The Paparazzi brand is associated with guilt-free shopping and gorgeous accessories, which leads to loads of fun and increased confidence for everyone involved. As a Consultant, it is important to incorporate that positivity into your business. One easy way to do this is by giving compliments. Compliments are great tools that can help break the ice with your customers and dissolve the walls or barriers that can make them feel uncomfortable. Establish common ground with your customers by greeting them at the door with a compliment. Not only do these small gestures make you more approachable, compliments lead to further conversation and can allow you to easily learn the likes and dislikes of your customers. A true compliment will stay with you forever, leaving a lasting imprint on your life. Sometimes giving and receiving compliments does not come naturally to everyone, but incorporating the practice of compliments into your daily business practices will not only benefit your team morale, but will help you build confidence in yourself.Create a compliment challenge by setting a compliment goal for yourself. For example, perhaps you decide that you want to give five compliments a day to your customers, friends, co-workers, or even strangers! Below are a couple of tricks to help you reach your goal:

  • Penny Pocket Trick: Keep five pennies in your front pocket to represent the five compliments you want to give at a party (or throughout the day). For every compliment you give throughout the party, move the pennies from your front pocket to your back pocket. By the end of the party, you should have moved all your pennies from your front pocket to you back pocket or vice versa.

  • Rubber Band Trick: Put five rubber bands on your right wrist to represent the five compliments you want to give at a party. For every compliment you give throughout the party, move the rubber bands from the right wrist to the left wrist. By the end of the party, you should have moved all the rubber bands from the right wrist to the left wrist or vice versa.

The act of giving compliments is always a win-win situation. The person who received the compliment is uplifted and given a burst of confidence, while the one who gives the compliment gets to savor the amazing feeling that comes from spreading that amazing Paparazzi positivity.
